DNV GL is active in a range of sectors, offering advice and assessment services to help clients safeguard life, property, and the environment. In the maritime field, Wilhelmsen Ships Services have a strong presence. Oil and energy company Statoil is also present in the UAE.

Norwegian imports from the UAE in 2013 equaled NOK 170 million. Exports to the UAE equaled NOK 1,9 billion in 2013. The Norwegian export figures are in reality higher, as the service sector is not included.
